REVUE THOMMEN

The history of REVUE THOMMEN

Only a few companies in the Swiss watchmaking industry can boast such a lengthy history as Revue Thommen. Gédéon Thommen launched Revue Thommen in 1853, and it has since grown to become one of the industry's top firms.

Only wristwatches and pocket watches were made in the beginning. It was only natural that they depended only on their own movements. Revue Thommen decided to start making instruments for the aviation business about 1920. This market has continued to grow, and Revue Thommen's devices are now among the most popular in the aviation sector. For many years, La Chaux-de-Fonds made small timepieces (wristwatches). The Revue Thommen Cricket* (mechanical alarm clocks) became famous all over the world. The Revue Thommen Cricket watch was worn by many presidents of the United States.

In spring 2001, the company Grovana Watch Co. Ltd. took over manufacture and global sales of Revue Thommen watches. Grovana is one of the most prestigious watchmaking businesses in Switzerland. Grovana's sales have increased dramatically in recent years. Today, more than 60 country agents sell its watches all over the world. Quality has always been a priority, but if a repair is ever required, our replacement parts service comes in handy. Any part that our agents order will be delivered within 48 hours. When Revue Thommen watches were amalgamated into Grovana Watch Co. Ltd., it was determined to focus on two primary divisions: Airspeed aircraft chronometers and classical watchmaking with distinctive Revue Thommen Manufacture movements.

The Classics and XLarge Collections, which make up the Airspeed lines, will soon be joined by The Flyback Collection, a jubilee collection. The Airspeed line embodies Revue Thommen's aviation history of technological precision and excellence. The classic collection is dedicated to the art of watchmaking as it was originally practiced. As a result, Revue Thommen has chosen to reintroduce the tried-and-true Revue Thommen Manufacture motions.
